Studying Literature & Poetry

A series of ten webinars suitable for students aged around 12-16

In this block, we explore a range of literature and poetry. We will be studying excerpts from classic and contemporary works of fiction, both novels and short stories, traditional and modern poetry. Through close analysis and discussion of themes, ideas, use of figurative language and sensory imagery, form, style and tone, students will develop and deepen their awareness and understanding of the ways in which writers can use language to communicate, express and articulate ideas, thoughts and feelings. This will, in turn, develop students’ skills and ability to use language confidently and effectively when writing their own pieces.
