*Think strategically*
Tip number 5 goes hand in hand with tip number 4. Remember that *you don’t have to answer questions in the order they appear on the paper*. You can complete them in any order you like! With this in mind, it”s a good idea to think through how you plan to attempt them. Plan your exam strategy in advance and I’d recommend not leaving the extended response task to the end: as it carries the most marks, you don’t want to risk:
- finding your energy flagging towards the end of the two hours, so you don’t write as well as you usually do
- running out of time so that you cannot finish the question worth the most on this paper Alternatively, you might like to:
- start with the extended response task so you’re fresh and able to give it your best
- Start with the last section based on text C if you’d like to ‘warm up’ with the writer’s effects question before the attempting the extended response task
- if you want to complete the extended response task in the middle of the two hours, I’d suggest you read text C and the extended response question first, so you know what’s required, work on other questions, then write your extended response – this may have the advantage that you’re subconsciously processing ideas for the extended response task while working on other questions
I hope this helps! 🙂
