What courses are available?

I teach a range of courses and classes to support learners aged 11-16.

Pre-iGCSE courses for students aged 11+

Pre-IGCSE courses are suitable for students aged 11-14, and two live webinar-style group classes are available every term. Students can sign up for one or both classes. All live sessions are recorded so students who can’t attend live sessions or those who prefer to watch offline can do so and work through the material in their own time.

Alternatively, all pre-IGCSE courses are available to purchase as a set of recorded blocks of ten sessions each. These recorded courses are perfect for self-directed learners as they can work their way through the sessions and additional material over their preferred timescale.

Further information

All pre-iGCSE courses introduce key English Language skills and expose students to a range of different genres so that they establish a solid foundation and can progress on to IGCSE level when they are ready. The skills covered are relevant to all boards and syllabuses, but are of particular relevance for the Cambridge specifications. I take a holistic approach to learning and this is reflected in the supplementary material provided, which develops cross curricular links and explores connections with other subjects including geography, the sciences and history.

During online live group classes, students’ cameras and mics are off for safeguarding reasons with lively informal discussion and Q&A via the chat. An optional written task is provided to accompany each session as well as thematic cross-curricular resources. Students can complete the written tasks in their own time if they wish to. We discuss the questions covered in the written task in depth during the live classes, including suggested sample responses.

Cambridge iGCSE English Language courses

I offer various options to support students with the Cambridge iGCSE English Language syllabus:

  •  The complete interactive pre-recorded Cambridge iGCSE English Language course – a self-paced, flexible course of 40 interactive lessons with over 60 hours of recorded material. Aligned to the Cambridge IGCSE English Language textbook, the course includes sample responses for all the textbook questions and guided walkthroughs to support student understanding and build confidence. This is available as a self-study course ideal for independent learners looking for a framework to support learning.
  • The complete interactive online Cambridge iGCSE English Language course is also available with the option of ten tutor-marked assignments taken from past papers. I provide detailed feedback and guidance for improving responses.
  • I also run the popular Cambridge iGCSE English Language Exam Preparation Course. This is an intensive ‘potted’ version of the longer full course with an exam focus. The course covers all the skills needed to complete the exam assessment tasks and includes guidance on how to approach tasks, guided past paper assessment task ‘walkthroughs’ and includes discussion of a range of annotated model responses to past paper tasks.

Finally, the live Cambridge iGCSE English Language course is designed to support students preparing for exams in May 2027. Each class and each term is standalone and all live sessions are recorded so students can join at any point and purchase previous blocks to access previous terms’ lessons.

Students will develop their skills through discussion, class activities and written tasks to be completed during and outside lessons.

A limited number of slots are available for a marked assignments version of the course. Feedback on two ‘mini mock’ past paper assessment tasks will help students monitor and track their learning.

The Cambridge iGCSE live group classes and the recorded courses can be taken together and complement each other. Although both the recorded and live sessions cover the entire syllabus, they take different approaches and include different texts and material so complement each other and may suit students who enjoy live interaction and wish to supplement the recorded course.
