A series of ten webinars suitable for students aged around 11-14 years old, although they may suit slightly older or younger students depending on ability.
The theme is Epic, myth and ancient civilisations. We’ll be studying a range of different pieces including speeches and persuasive writing, descriptive accounts and journal texts, letters, news reports, poetry and extracts from narrative writing. We will consider key aspects of the epic form, delve into the past and explore stories featuring larger-than-life characters, study accounts of the discovery of objects from history and consider current debates surrounding precious artefacts of cultural significance.
A variety of supplementary resources will be provided, including links to relevant articles, news reports, websites and documentaries to give students the opportunity to broaden their reading and build their knowledge of effective writing as well as extend their vocabulary and their technical skills in terms of structuring and sequencing their work effectively and ensuring accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Recordings will be made available in Google Classroom shortly after each week’s live event, so students are able to review what is covered each each week, together with an optional written task for students to complete if they wish to in their own time.
Once you have completed your booking, please look out for an email with details on how to join live sessions, access Google Classroom and all the recordings and resources.
