A series of ten webinars suitable for students aged around 11-14 years old, although they may suit slightly older or younger students depending on ability.
In this block we will study a wide range of texts related to the theme of exploring new horizons, undertaking challenges and discovering new terrain. We will look at speeches, articles, journal writing and letter forms, poetry and descriptive composition, setting off on a journey accompanying those who have embarked on voyages of discovery, both literal and metaphorical, at times, testing the limits of human endurance and taking personal risks to overcome adversity.
Throughout the course, we will be building students’ core skills and a solid foundation in English in a fun and engaging way. We will discuss the importance of audience and purpose when writing and reading. All the sessions are designed to develop students’ core skills and provide them with a solid foundation in English. A variety cross-curricular supplementary resources will be provided including links to relevant articles, news reports, websites and documentaries to give students the opportunity to broaden their reading and exposure to a different text types.
