A series of ten webinars suitable for Lower KS3 students aged around 11-12 years old, although they may suit slightly older or younger students depending on ability.
The theme for this term is Of Earth and Air. We begin our elemental journey by exploring a wide range of texts relating to things that take flight and soar above our heads, including birds, aeroplanes and phenomena such as hurricanes. Then, for the second half of the term, we’ll come back down to earth to study passages relating to the humblest of creatures at our feet and embark on a subterranean adventure looking at writing that features activity of different kinds on and below ground.
Throughout the course, we will be building core skills in English in a fun and engaging way by discussing and analysing extracts from novels and poetry and looking at how to write reports, letters, descriptive and discursive pieces on different themed topics. A wide range of supplementary cross-curricular resources and optional written tasks will be provided, including links to relevant articles, news reports, websites and documentaries to give students the opportunity to broaden their reading and build their knowledge of effective writing as well as extend their vocabulary and understanding of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Recordings are made available in Google Classroom together with an optional written task.
Once you have completed your booking, please look out for an email with details on how to access Google Classroom and all the recordings and resources.
