A series of ten webinars suitable for KS3 students aged around 11/12+ years old.
In this block, we explore a range of literature and poetry. We will be studying excerpts from classic and contemporary works of fiction, both novels and short stories, traditional and modern poetry. Through close analysis and discussion of themes, ideas, use of figurative language and sensory imagery, form, style and tone, students will develop and deepen their awareness and understanding of the ways in which writers can use language to communicate, express and articulate ideas, thoughts and feelings. This will, in turn, foster students’ ability to use language confidently and effectively when writing their own pieces.
Each lesson will be accompanied by an optional writing task for students to consolidate their learning. A variety of stimulating supplementary cross-curricular resources will be provided, including links to relevant articles, news reports, websites and documentaries, to create opportunities to extend learning and strengthen knowledge, broaden reading, build skills and knowledge of effective writing as well as extend vocabulary and understanding of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Recordings are available in Google Classroom together with an optional written task for students to complete if they wish to in their own time.
Once you have completed your booking, please look out for an email from Acorn Education, which will contain details on how to access Google Classroom and all the recordings and resources.
