UKS3/11-14 Planes, Trains, Automobiles and other ways to travel
A series of ten webinars suitable for students aged around 11-14 years old, although they may suit slightly older or younger students depending on ability.
The sessions are themed around Planes, Trains, Automobiles and other ways to Travel. We’ll be exploring a wide range of different text types including descriptive pieces, articles, interviews, letters, journal entries, speeches and news reports related to different modes of transport, journeying into the past and travelling into the future as well as examining topical issues around transport and sharing some remarkable traveller tales. We will also consider the importance of audience and purpose when writing and reading. All the sessions are designed to develop students’ core understanding and skills and provide them with a solid foundation in English.
A variety of supplementary resources will be provided, including links to relevant articles, news reports, websites and documentaries to give students the opportunity to broaden their reading and build their knowledge of effective writing as well as extend their vocabulary and their technical skills in terms of structuring and sequencing their work effectively and ensuring accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Recordings will be made available in Google Classroom, so students are able to review whenever they wish, together with an optional written task for students to complete if they wish to in their own time.
