A series of ten webinars suitable for Upper KS3 students aged around 12-14+ years old, although they may suit slightly older or younger students depending on ability.
The theme for this block is Worlds Apart. We’ll study a range of genres and consider the features and conventions of narrative and descriptive texts, letters, articles, speeches, journal entries, interview transcripts and news reports. In the process, we will enter the writer’s universe to venture to far-off realms in space and time, explore worlds from the past and visions of the future where the frontiers science fact and fiction converge.
A wide variety of supplementary resources will be provided including links to relevant articles, news reports, websites and documentaries to give students the opportunity to broaden their reading and exposure to a different text types. The additional material will enable students to extend their vocabulary and understanding of how to structure and sequence their writing effectively and use grammar, spelling and punctuation accurately. We will also discuss the importance of audience and purpose when writing and reading. All the sessions are designed to develop students’ core skills and provide them with a solid foundation in English.
Recordings are made available via Google Classroom, so students can review what is covered in each webinar at any time, together with an optional written task for students to complete if they wish to.
Once you have completed your booking, please look out for an email with details on how to access Google Classroom and all the recordings and resources supplied.
